The Fast Five

Singer/actor Tyrese and rapper Ludacris revealed this week, via their Twitter accounts, that they have signed on for the next installment of the Fast and the Furiousmovie franchise.

"Just landed in Puerto Rico. Shooting for Fast & Furious 5 is about to be underway.....," Luda tweeted (@LudaJuice) on Monday (July 12).

Tyrese also tweeted (@Tyrese4ReaL) about landing in Puerto Rico. Apparently, the singer is also shooting Transformers 3, and had to take a break from filming to begin shooting the start of the upcoming street racing film, tentively titled Fast Five.

According to reports, the new film will star Vin Diesel and Paul Walker, both of whom will reprise their roles as Dominic Toretto and Brian O'Conner.

Tyrese and Ludacris starred in the 2003 2 Fast 2 Furious, the sequel to the original The Fast and the Furious from 2001.

Tyrese played Roman Pearce, Brian's boyhood friend who is on house arrest after serving time in prison for which he still blames Brian. Luda, on the other hand, played Tej Parker, a race host and a friend of Brian's.

In addition to Diesel, Walker, Ludacris and Tyrese, writer and director Justin Lin, responsbile for the third and fourth films, has returned for the upcoming Fast Five.

The film's fourth and last film, Fast & Furious, reportedly grossed $359 million worldwide, becoming the most most successful film in the franchise.

Joining the cast for the upcoming film is Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

Filming is currently underway in Puerto Rico. It is slated to hit theaters on June 10, 2011.
