"2012" is nothing more and nothing less than a party record for dance clubs all over the world. Like an updated version of Prince's "1999", Jay and Nicki are singing and rapping around the idea that in two years, the world is going to end and therefore one must party like the world is going to end. Nicki, for all the work she gives to other people's songs, sounds particularly excited to be on this record, and as always we're more than excited to hear her. Her rapid flow is as crisp as ever, even though it's light on the quoteworthy lines we've grown used to. Still, this song right here (this song right here!) a smash. All day.
